Helicopter is a 2 person build event that focuses on the creation and testing of balsa wood helicopters. Using either a pre-made kit or a home-made helicopter. competitors must tweak their helicopter in order to maximize flight time and minimize problems in weight and balance. To succeed in this event, competitors should make detailed plans and flight logs to accurately record their plane’s data. This event has requirements that change slightly each year, so make sure to check the measurements and weights required on the Science Olympiad website. Some skills that are valuable to this event are being detail oriented and teamwork.
